Statement of the Jury
Angular and black like a briquette from the outside, with uncompromisingly pared-down typography on the inside. There’s no doubt about it – this book really is something special. By soberly listing the names of the victims page after page, it manages to provoke an emotional response from the reader. Purism of this kind requires a great deal of work, pas- sion and care, but above all it also requires an absolute wealth of experience in typography and the craft of bookbinding, which explains why the result is so extraordinary.

Communication Design / Limited series book with small print run
Best of the Best

Statement of the jury
No more than a black box at first glance, “Carved Names Vol. 2” presents on the inside typography at its purest. The book fascinates with design details such as refined indentations and lines that run across pages. In addition, the book is beautifully bound and convinces as an over- all concept for conveying a difficult and delicate topic. It manages to establish an emotional relation with readers.

Excellent Communications Design – Books and Calendars

Statement of the jury
"MúzeumCafé Books are published by the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. The series also aims to bring a breath of fresh air to Hungarian book culture. The volume Museum – A House for Learning is an elaborate, wonderfully diverse museum book that is nonetheless consistent in its no-frills design, and boasts beautiful typography and an attractive layout. This medium is an excellent choice for such a major work and adeptly takes up the tradition of bookmaking while remaining refreshingly imperfect. This catalogue is a feast for the eyes and illustrates why beyond the world of e-books there is strong justification for splendid printed works." – Jens Grefen, Burkhard Remmers, Prof. Dr. Erik Spiekermann
